Stay informed, get trained

Key points

  • Get trained in nonviolent action and your rights (ANV-COP21, Alternatiba, Amnesty).
  • Protest calendar: Demosphere and local sites.
  • Find official accounts from the organisation's website; RSS or Mastodon to follow without an algorithm.
  • Your follows and likes are public: use a separate account if your situation is sensitive.

Protesting can be learned: associations train people in non-violent action, observing police practices or knowing their rights. And to follow mobilisations, reliable sources beat rumours.

Following accounts on social media

  • Find the official accounts from the organisation's website (links in the footer): fake and parody accounts are common.
  • Prefer RSS feeds or a decentralised network (Mastodon) to follow without algorithms or profiling.
  • Your follows, likes and shares are public: if your situation is sensitive (residence permit, job, minor), follow from a separate account or via RSS.
  • Don't post photos where other protesters can be identified (film and publish).
