Publisher and publishing approach

This site is a collaborative, independent and volunteer documentation project, developed under pseudonymity by the collective behind the onmanifeste repository.

Under French law (the LCEN digital economy act), a non-professional publisher's exemption from publishing civil identity details theoretically requires providing identification elements to the host.12 Because GitHub Pages does not collect civil identity records for free accounts and public repositories, this project embraces pseudonymous publishing, which is essential to the safety and freedom of expression of its contributors.

Personal data and privacy

  • No analytics, no trackers, no accounts. The site uses neither advertising cookies nor statistics tools.
  • No third-party requests from your browser: fonts and assets are served by the site itself.
  • Local storage only: the offline copy (service worker cache) and your choices (install banner hidden, offline mode turned off) stay in your browser. The Settings page lets you manage them and delete the offline copy.
  • Host logs: like any server, GitHub Pages logs visitors' IP addresses for security purposes.4 If this exposes you, browse the site with Tor Browser or a VPN, or install it once and then use it offline.

Content and liability

Information is general and does not replace a lawyer or a medical professional. Data and texts were first researched and sourced with the help of an artificial intelligence, and are being reviewed by humans step by step. Every statement is sourced and dated, and the check indicator (check) says who checked it: AI, volunteer, lawyer, health professional or historian. Content not yet reviewed by a professional or not confirmed carries a badge. See the content policy (in French).

Why an AI?

This site aims to be complete and usable offline, by gathering content that already exists and pointing to it (laws, associations, media, public services). For a volunteer, anonymous project, an AI was used to research, source and write these summaries, and also to build the site (code, tooling, tests) quickly, on free, reusable technologies (MkDocs, Material for MkDocs): anyone can copy the site and adapt it.

AI has a cost (energy, resources) and several causes defended here oppose it: we acknowledge that. What it produces has not yet been reviewed by humans. Each piece of information therefore carries its source, its date and a badge saying who checked it. If you can review a guide, see Contribute.
